Scientific Position

The MINAMAS team is the youngest research group in MN2S department. The creation of MINAMAS originates from strong collaborations between researchers coming from other laboratories, which have been ended up due to the reorganization of FEMTO-ST Institute. The main goals of MINAMAS are to develop some research activities and produce some new knowledge on materials, surfaces and nano-structured thin films for Microsystems, actuators, tribology, mechanics, adhesion, … The selected strategy is to implement simultaneously significant actions focused on modeling, elaboration and characterization in order to better understand some potential interactions between different interfaces and surfaces involved in various Microsystems. Investigations of the MINAMAS team can be illustrated thanks to the figure below.

Balancing skills of the staff in physics, mechanics or tribology of thin films and surfaces lead to a synergetic effect, which is relevant for creating new knowledge and understanding physical behaviors of materials and surfaces in Microsystems.

Research activities are focused on 3 topics:

  1. physical vapor deposition and structuration,
  2. physical behaviors characterisation (mechanics, nano-tribology, structure, electrical characteristics, surface forces, adhesion, …) of thin films and interfaces,
  3. modeling, simulation and understanding of physical vapor deposition processes and physical behaviors of molti-functional materials.
