Abstract
Robotic systems dedicated to micro/nano manipulation have attracted increasing attention in the last decades. Unprecedented resolution and dexterity is attained in the manipulation of ever-smaller objects. Micro/nano robotic is now to the point where it faces the challenges of transforming exceptional research prototypes into robust and marketable products. A wide variety of domains are concerned, ranging from automated assembly of micro/nano components to the fabrication of MEMS and MOEMS, the characterization of material or in vivo or in vitro operation for the medicine of the future. This workshop aims to bring together people across the world to present an overview of the application domains of micro/nano robotics, and the challenges that should be addressed to bring current systems to industry. Presentations of both recognized research teams and highly promising start-ups will strengthen the link between research and industry. This workshop is anticipated to propel state-of-the-art scientific results in the direction of marketable products.
Important instructions for all attendees
A live workshop gathering many attendees necessitates that everyone follow strict rules, in order to ensure a time conducive to scientific exchanges. Please read carefully and strictly follow the following rules:
- Workshop communication will take place over Slack, via our workshop channel #ws2.
- The workshop talks will be conducted live over Zoom webminar, with announcements and additional discussion on the Slack channel. Attendees are suggested to have both Slack and Zoom running while attending.
- Please make sure you are able to join Zoom and the ICRA2020 Slack channel #ws2 prior to the workshop.
- The schedule is posted on the workshop website, and will be adhered to closely. Talks last for 10 minutes only (15 minutes for keynotes), with 5 minutes for questions.
- During each talk, please post your questions for the speaker in the Zoom “chat” bar. The session chair will then either call on you to ask your question or read out the question directly. Any unanswered questions will be posted to the Slack channel for follow-up answers and discussion.
- Discussions in Slack will be organized by thread. To respond to a topic in our Slack channel, click “start a thread” or “reply to thread” on the message rather than posting to #ws2 directly.
- During the Zoom call, participants are reminded to keep their microphones muted unless speaking. If you would like to speak, you can get our attention by posting in the Zoom chat and the session chair will call on you.
